Want a career in broadcasting? Be at Thursday’s job fair

Radio and TV stations in eastern Idaho, including Local News 8 and KIDK, will be in one spot Thursday looking for those wanting a career in broadcasting.

You probably know about some of the jobs, such as DJs and news anchors. But there are several positions behind the scenes you may not have thought of.

Just at our station, we not only have reporters and photographers, but we have producers, video editors, technical directors, IT personnel, and those who create and sell advertising.

Our general manager said this a great time to learn about all these jobs.

“We want people to come and see really what the broadcasters in this market provide in jobs and opportunities, the way people can maybe look at a career change, or maybe their schooling to further their careers and their opportunities,” said Monte Young. “That’s really the purpose of the job fair, and also (to) let some people know some opportunities open here in our market.”

The job fair will be at the Willard Arts Center in Idaho Falls on Thursday. We’ll be there from 3 to 6 pm.

Be sure to bring your resume and be prepared to learn about our industry.
