Deputies: Girl steals Firebird, crashes it
A girl stole a car from Rockland High School and totaled it, the Power County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
On April 7 around 11 a.m, deputies got a complaint about a 1990 Pontiac Firebird stolen from the school. They said the girl and the car had been missing for about two hours.
During that time, the Pocatello Police Department contacted the Power County Sheriff’s Office with information that the Firebird had been involved in a two-vehicle crash in Pocatello. The girl was the driver.
The driver of the other vehicle, Kyle Rileys, said the accident happened as he was driving a company car west on West Maple Street, and the girl was going north Moreland Avenue. He said she ran the stop sign at a high speed.
Both vehicles were totaled.
The girl will be charged with grand theft, deputies said.
