Accused dorm intruder leaves U.S.; some charges dismissed

The man accused of entering multiple Idaho State University dorms and touching students has left the country, according to an email sent to students by the university.

Sultan Bamoallem (also spelled Sulton Bamoallem) was released into the custody of his family and has returned to his native Saudi Arabia, according to the email.

Bamoallem was accused of entering multiple dorms during the months of February and March and making unwanted contact with the occupants.

The city of Pocatello prosecutor handling the case couldn’t be reached Monday, but court records show several battery charges against Bamoallem were dismissed Friday. He received a suspended jail sentence for other charges.

Marissa Parks, who said Bamoallem entered her Turner Hall dorm in February while she and her roommate were taking a nap, said she felt Bamoallem should have spent more time in jail.

“I did want more punishment just because I felt like he intended to rape me,” said Parks.

Still Parks said she is pleased to hear he’s no longer a threat to her or fellow students.

“He’s gone, he’s out of the country, he’s not my problem anymore,” said Parks.

At the time these alleged incidents occurred, Bamoallem was an ISU finance major. ISU spokespeople said they didn’t know whether Bamoallem was still an ISU student as of Monday evening.
