Man pleads not guilty in death of Nori Jones

Brad Compher pleaded not guilty during his arraignment hearing Monday for the death of Nori Jones in 2004.

Compher is currently facing a first-degree murder charge for Jones’ death.

Judge Rick Carnaroli ruled April 9 that prosecutors presented sufficient evidence to show Compher may be guilty.

A trial date has been set for April 18, 2016. Zack Parris, Bannock County’s Chief Deputy Prosecutor handling the case, said the amount of evidence is a big reason the trial date was set so far down the road.

“This case has a lot of forensic evidence in it and because of that there’s a need for experts to testify about that forensic evidence,” said Parris.

Parris also said murder cases typically need a lot of preparation for court proceedings.
