Mcquilliams trial pushed back

A man accused of killing his girlfriend on New Year’s Day in Idaho Falls will go to trial July 7.

Kevin Mcquilliams’ trail was originally set for May 5, but in a hearing Monday, the defense asked for a different date.

Both the defense and prosecution say they need more time to prepare.

Last month, Mcquilliams pleaded not guilty to three felony charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with enhancement to promote criminal gang activity, involuntary manslaughter with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Police said Mcquilliams fired a gun at a house party, accidentally killing his girlfriend, AnnaRae Ponce.
