Bannock Development Corp. sees success

The Bannock Development Corporation reported a good year for the county, bringing in a large number of jobs and industrial projects to the area.

Amy’s Kitchen, which opened a facility in Pocatello late last year, is expected to create a thousand jobs. The return of SME Steel brought in another 150 and – even though progress has slowed – ‘Project Pipe’ by the Pocatello Regional Airport has created 100 jobs.

“We’ve had some pretty good successes here,” said John Regetz, executive director for BDC. “We’re ready to do more and we’re going to continue to do our regional marketing effort and our local marketing efforts.”

BDC also collaborates with Idaho State University for company roll-outs and department development.

“They do have a variety of curriculum and departments that really can help spawn new growth in our economy. We’ll work with them, we’ll continue work with the region in marketing, retention and expansion areas,” said Regetz.

The BDC and ISU partnered before to develop curriculum for the university’s insurance technology program.
