Man arrested after fight

An Idaho Falls man was arrested after an early morning fight on Northgate Mile.

Officers responded to the Los Albertos parking lot around 2:50 a.m. Saturday after getting a call about a disturbance. The person who called police said Brian A. Whisenant, 34, had been breaking into cars in the parking lot.

Whisenant punched the man who confronted him, police said.

In an email to Local News 8 on Monday, Whisenant there was no evidence of him breaking into cars. He also said the man who confronted him attacked him as he was trying to walk away.

“I felt threatened, and I punched him when he first put his hands on me,” he said.

Police said they found Whisenant at the entrance of Fred Meyer and arrested him.

According to court records Monday, Whisenant is facing a charge of misdemeanor battery.
