Portneuf Medical Center builds RV park for out-of-town patients
Construction has begun on an RV park for out-of-town patients at Portneuf Medical Center.
Once completed in July, the RV park will hold up to six RVs.
Hospital officials say they have patients from as far away as Salmon and the Star Valley visiting the hospital for long-term treatment. Many currently park their RVs wherever they can in the hospital parking lot.
“It’s just really a burden to come for treatment for five days straight and then try to drive all the way home and then come all the way back to start all over the next week,” said Monica White, the hospital’s director of volunteer services.
“Right now all we have is a parking lot with electrical. We don’t have shade trees or grass. No sewer hook-ups,” she said.
The RV park will be located just south of the hospital. Those wishing to parking there will be charged a daily fee.
