Police: Children safe after being abducted
Two Idaho children who were abducted by their father are now safe, Nampa police said Wednesday afternoon.
Police tweeted that Joshua Reavis, 31, was in custody in Washington state.
Earlier Wednesday, an Amber Alert was sent out on the missing children.
Officers said normally this is a custodial issue and children are normally believed to be safe with their parent. However, detectives said the two young children were in “imminent danger due to physiological issues reported that are affecting the children’s father.”
The children are Slevin Reavis, a 3-year-old boy, and Esatleyn Reavis, a 2-year-old girl.
According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Reavis was distraught after he found his wife wanted a divorce. Reavis is dealing with “unknown mental health problems and uses prescription and recreational drugs,” the organization said. When Reavis’ wife returned home, she found the house was trashed, and the children were gone, along with all their belongings and some camping gear.
