Father in Amber Alert charged
An Idaho man who took his children and triggered an Amber Alert on Wednesday has been formally charged.
KBOI reports that Joshua Reavis, 31, has been booked on felony custodial interference. He’s being held in Washington state on a $500,000 bond.
According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Reavis was distraught after he found his wife wanted a divorce. Reavis was dealing with “unknown mental health problems and uses prescription and recreational drugs,” the organization said. When Reavis’ wife returned home, she found the house was trashed, and the children, a 3-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl, were gone, along with all their belongings and some camping gear.
Authorities located him in Washington state later that day after a driver recognized the van he was driving.
Reavis faces five years in prison and a $50,000 fine, KBOI said.
