Plane hits Aberdeen power lines

The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office has identified the pilot of a crop-duster that caused a day-long power outage. The airplane’s wheels clipped power lines near a substation north of Abedeen around 8 a.m. Friday.

Power was restored to about 1,000 customers by 3:25 p.m.

Sheriff Craig Rowland said the pilot reported he felt a bump, but didn’t know his wheels caused the damage. The pilot’s name has not been released.

Rowland said the case was turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration for investigation.

Idaho Power Company officials said the repair was delayed because insulators had to be brought in from Twin Falls.
