Local teen launches nationwide campaign
Rigby native and Miss Idaho Outstanding Teen, Abigail Kunz is launching a campaign to bridge the generation gap between millennials and older generations.
At only 16 years old, she has made plans to raise money for Alzheimer’s research and has created a nationwide call to action over social media.
“Anyone can do it. We all have grandparents or people we can look up to. I’m so excited about the opportunity I have to share it, and then to see what other youth can do with it. To see where they can take it and what they can share with me,” Abigail Kunz said.
Abigail she said she hates Alzheimer’s because the disease is taking away the stories teens need to hear.
Her passion for her campaign proves could push her platform “Bridging Generations” onto the national stage.
“It’s not just in Idaho it’s all over the nation. Teens need that across the nation, we need that guidance and that help. We have these incredible people who want to share their stories. They want us to know the things they’ve done in their lives and their challenges and what they’ve learned,” Abigail said.
Hours have been spent preparing her video to be launched over social media with the hashtag #ShareYourStory.
“I have been going throughout my community and interviewed over 20 different men and women, ages 65 to 103, about their lives, their stories, the things that they loved when they were younger and the things they love now, and what they’ve learned over the years. I’ve compiled these into a video, and I love it! Because it shows how these people have learned so much about so many different things. It inspires you to be better,” Abigail said.
Some advice she found:
“Dig deep, from experience and example, and realize most problems will pass.” “I can do anything as long as my husband Wayne is with me.”
Abigail will be competing at the National Outstanding Teen competition at the end of the month.
