Firefighters teach kids about safety, bullying

The Pocatello Fire Department makes a stop at a local park to cool kids off and teach them about fire safety.

Youngsters waited patiently as firefighters set-up hoses. Before they unleashed the tidal wave of cool water the fire department wanted to make sure all the kids knew their home address, emergency number to call and no bullying tolerance.

Then the fun began, smiles and wet kids were everywhere.

After, kids lined up to get stickers and lollypops as long as they could share some of the new stuff they learned.

“If you can target them at such a young age it really does instill it in them. They can learn at a young age, they can pass it along to their friends. And hopefully save their lives in an event of a fire, or prevent any bullying situations,” said Community Relations Education Specialist Kim Stouse.

Teaching children at a young age about fire safety and bullying is always a good idea. Especially, when learning is fun, it’s more memorable.
