Bighorn lamb finds a new home
The Pocatello Zoo has a new addition. It is a baby bighorn sheep. Her mother died, and she was found out in the wild with an injured leg.
Idaho Fish and Game brought the lamb to Pocatello Zoo. She is between six and eight weeks old. The bighorn is currently being nursed back to health with antibiotics.
Once she gains some weight, she will meet up with another full-size bighorn ram at the zoo.
“She’s got a slight injury to her right rear leg. A couple weeks ago, she wasn’t putting any weight on it. Today, she’s putting weight on it. She still has a limp, and we are working with some antibiotics. And hopefully, the limp is caused by an infection or soft tissue, and we will reassess in two weeks,” said Peter Pruett, the zoo’s superintendent.
The young lamb is expected to make a full recovery.
