Crash on southbound I-15, accident has been cleared

Idaho State Police have been investigating a crash on southbound I-15 at milepost 25 south of Downey. It was originally reported at around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Hal Wheelwright, 83, of Ogden, UT, was traveling north in a 2015 Acura MDX. Jeremy Johnson, 32, of Logan, UT, was traveling south in a 1999 Land Rover RRV. Johnson lost control of his vehicle and crossed into the northbound lanes where he ran into Wheelwright’s vehicle. This crash occurred in a construction zone where northbound and southbound lanes were on the same side of the interstate.

Wheelwright and two of his passengers were transported by ground ambulance to Oneida County Hospital in Malad City, while his third passenger was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. Johnson was not taken to the hospital.

Conditions of those taken to the hospital have not been released.

Occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seatbelts. Lanes were blocked for approximately 3 hours.
