Missing 85-year-old hunter found dead
The body of Berhard Reitmann was found Tuesday after a hunter found a gun matching the description of the gun Reitmann was carrying.
The sheriff’s office received information at around 9:30am from a hunter stating he found a rifle in the Boulder Creek drainage on Monday. The hunter, who lives in Green River, Wyoming, stated he was hunting in Boulder Creek when he found the rifle. He was unaware of the on-going search and ended up taking the rifle to his home. He later found out about the search and contacted the sheriff’s office. He was able to provide GPS coordinates of where he found the rifle.Search crews responded to the area and found Reitmann’s body within minutes.
Berhard Reitmann’s family has been notified and Teton County is wrapping up the search.
Search crews say the reason they did not find Reitmann sooner is because he had crossed over a point of the mountain, which put him outside the search area that had been designated.
Teton County Sheriff’s Deputies will conduct an investigation of the area where Mr. Rietmann’s remains were found.
Reitmann was originally reported missing on Wednesday, September 23rd.
