Double Down closes in wake of historical racing decision
Double Down Betting, Sports Bar and Grill has closed its doors permanently as of September 28th. The owners say the recent decision banning historical racing in Idaho is the primary reason the business is closing.
The decision to close came very hard for the owners after they invested $3.5 million in expanding the business at a new location and buying the instant horse racing machines. Co-owner Melissa Bernard told Local News 8 and KIDK Eyewitness News that 70 people will be out of a job because of the store closure.
Business owners made this statement as well on the company Facebook page. “An unfortunate set of events has given us no other choice. We want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for the continued support that you have showed us.”
Double Down Betting, Sports Bar and Grill had been open for just over one year.
