Pocatello businesses want third SkyWest flight back
The test for a third flight out of Pocatello Regional Airport ended Sunday Businesses have their fingers crossed the flight will come back permanently.
SkyWest Airlines ran the daily flight test from Aug. 17 to Sept. 27, due to a runway closure at another airport. Pocatello’s airport used to run three flights, but it was reduced to two earlier this year.
During the summer, the airport and the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce formed the airport service committee to encourage others to fly local.
For businesses, a third flight gives more favorable options to travel.
“It’s all about flexibility. It’s all about the opportunity that we have to get to go from here to there,”said Cesar Salgado, member of the airport service committee.”Not having to worry about how much time I’m going to spend working out of a hotel room or working out of an airport.”
SkyWest will be making a decision after reviewing data from the test period. If the third flight returns, it wouldn’t be until the spring or summer.
