Highway 33 reopened after semi truck crash

State Highway 33, near milepost 13, south of Howe reopened shortly before 3:30 a.m. Thursday after being closed for over two hours following a single truck crash.

Idaho State Police said Michael D. Swope, 29, of Tacoma, Washington was driving east bound in a 2005 Peterbilt tractor pulling a flatbed trailer when he failed to negotiate a curve. The trailer flipped onto its top and turned the cab on its side.

A load of timber was dumped on the highway. The road was blocked for about two hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

Swope was wearing a seat belt.

The crash is sill under investigation.
