Man,18,kills teen with gun he thought was unloaded

Authorities in Idaho say an 18-year-old man accidentally shot and killed a 15-year-old boy while playing with a gun he believed was unloaded.

Police tell Boise news station KBOI-TV that the older teen pointed the handgun at the boy’s head and pulled the trigger, not realizing it was loaded.

Meridian police say they found the 15-year-old with a gunshot wound Saturday night and believed he had committed suicide at first.

Officers say several people were in the room when the shooting occurred, all of them smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol. Police say the group began playing with two handguns, which eventually led to the shooting.

Police say at least two other adults were in the home when the shooting happened. The 18-year-old has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
