Accident blocked traffic on U.S. 20, sends four to the hospital
On Thursday, October 22, 2015, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Idaho Police investigated a two vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 20 at milepost 312, east of Idaho Falls.
Makaylah L. Mantooth, 19, of Idaho Falls, was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 20 at milepost 312 in a 1994 Mercury Villager. Tony L. Paterson, 47, of Idaho Falls, was also traveling westbound in a 1995 Kenworth tractor hauling a belly dump trailer. Mantooth applied her brakes and Paterson subsequently hit Mantooth’s vehicle from behind. The van then rolled and came to rest in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 20.
Mantooth and a juvenile passenger were not wearing their seat belts. Another juvenile passenger in Mantooth’s vehicle was wearing their seat belt. Paterson was wearing his seat belt.
All occupants were transported by ground ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. No information on their current condition has been provided.
One eastbound lane was blocked for approximately 2 hours and one westbound lane was blocked for approximately 3 hours.
The Idaho State Police was assisted by the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho Transportation Department.
This crash is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
