ISU Pharmacy students host open house
On the behalf American Pharmacist Month, ISU students hosted an open house tonight called “Know your pharmacist, know your medicine.”
Third year ISU pharmacy student, Kizito Kyeremateng says this is a way to educate the community and surrounding cities to come and interact with the students and pharmacists. Getting to “know your pharmacist and know your medicine.”
Pharmacists were there to talk with people about many kinds of medications as well.
Kyeremateng visits high schools with other pharmacy students to motivate and educate students to stay drug free. He says the event tonight will expand onto the meth problems in Pocatello and neighboring towns. The event will also answer questions and provide advice on staying away from drug abuse.
“I mean drug addiction is a big problem. If you start on any prescription drugs or illegal drugs that are out there. The side effects are going to affect you for the rest of your life. And so, what we are doing with our students is, we going out there and letting them know that these drugs. And it’s better to just avoid them, or talk to somebody.”
The first 50 people who attended tonight’s open house, received free flu shots if desired.
The event was free and open to the public at the Eugene O. Leonard College of Pharmacy.
