Patricia leaves local families worried

Chubbuck resident Renee Brinton, whose parents are in Puerta Vallertta, Mexico, sat down and talked with us Friday.

“You know, it’s just a minute-by-minute pray for, that everyone come out ok, they’ve been watching the news, but it’s a language barrier. Their not getting much information.” Brinton said. Her parents have been keeping in contact via text, but they don’t expect for it to last long. They don’t know when they will lose service.

“She’ll try to stay in contact with me as long as she can before she looses service and she said that you know that if were not able to hear from her in a day or two, to contact the Red Cross.”, Brinton said.

The Red Cross is working to make sure that they are prepared.

Rusty Devereaux, the disaster program manager for the Idaho Falls branch, said the Red Cross is keeping a close eye on Eastern Texas and for the potential of flash floods.

Devereaux said that they will be watching “Where the storms go, how much water they get now because there’s a storm there now. There’s going to be a little bit of a gap before the hurricane comes on board and gets there. “

Devereaux added, “We have teams there constantly watching the weather. How it’s going to impact it, and where it’s going to be. “
