ISU opens Benny’s Pantry in Idaho Falls

Benny’s Pantry is now open in Idaho Falls.

Thursday the pantry held a ribbon cutting at the Bennion Student Union building at University Place in Idaho Falls.

Benny’s Pantry made possible by the Student Affairs Division at ISU.

The pantry distributes non-perishable food to ISU students, staff and faculty that might be in need.

Pantry Manager Elise Hansen says Benny’s is different than other food pantries in the area.

“It is specifically for students for people who serve on the ISU campus. So that is a difference but also we don’t have any financial requirements, we don’t have any extra paperwork that you need to do. You basically sign a waiver saying you’re accepting the food for free and then you’re able to shop.”

If someone wants to donate Benny’s accepts non-perishable food items and some non-food items.

For more information you can contact the director of the Bennion Student Union at 208-282-7866.

This is the second Benny’s Pantry, the first is located on the Idaho State Campus in Pocatello.
