Bridger-Teton National Forest accepts purchase offer

The Bridger-Teton National Forest has accepted an offer for the east 10-acres of the forest’s 15-acre parcel on North Cache Street in Jackson.

“We have a standard sale agreement contract,” said Bridger-Teton Forest Supervisor Tricia O’Connor. “Price, dates within the contract, terms, and other information won’t be disclosed until after closing,” she said. We anticipate the closing date to be more expedient than past offers.”

Proceeds from the land sale will be used to help make improvements to the remaining 5-acre parcel, beginning with a new administrative office. The forest plans to eventually build employee housing and a warehouse for the operations of the forest in the Jackson area.

Recently, there has been interest in looking at the parcel as part of the solution to the community and Forest housing needs. “We have been approached with some very creative ideas that the Forest is interested in working on with our partners,” said O’Connor, “and once this land sale is finalized we believe we will be in a position to explore those fully and assure the future housing for our workforce and others,” she said.

“We are a part of Jackson as they are our community, our neighbor, and where our employees live and serve this valley,” O’Connor said. “We are committed to being a good neighbor and recognize our standing as an employer in this County and steward of this lifestyle that so many of us embrace. The Forest is the backyard that belongs to all of us. We want to better facilitate employees living where they work.”
