Idaho Falls Community Food Bank announces name change
The Idaho Falls Community Food Bank has announced that it will be changing its name to Community Food Basket Idaho Falls effective immediately. The organization says the name change is part of a rebranding initiative to better align the organization’s name with its outreach programs.
Bud Langerak, Executive Director for Community Food Basket Idaho Falls, says, “As we continue to strengthen our outreach plan, our parent organization The Regional Council for Christian Ministry (RCCM), determined that our name should better reflect the services that we provide and avoid continued confusion with like-named charitable organizations.”
Community Food Basket Idaho Falls has been providing food to families with food-insecurity since 1980, but has been confused with the Idaho Food Bank, headquartered in Boise, because of their similar name. “As we researched better ways to communicate our mission and needs with the greater Idaho Falls community, we discovered that many local residents had been giving to the Idaho Food Bank, believing those canned goods and donations were staying wholly in Idaho Falls. The Idaho Food Bank provides food for many wonderful programs throughout the state, but donations from Idaho Falls benefit programs all over the state,” Langerak says.
