I-15 crash that killed a child under investigation
A head-on crash involving a semi-truck and a pickup near milepost 82 on Interstate 15 claimed the life of one child and injured a woman and three other children.
According to Idaho State Police, Terry Laeger, 60, of Pocatello was driving southbound in a 2000 Freightliner when a tire blew out and he lost control. The truck crossed through the median and onto the northbound lanes. The semi collided with a 2007 Chevrolet 1500 pickup traveling in the northbound lane.
Elena Holbrook, of Blackfoot, was driving the pickup with her four children. One child died at the scene. The three others were transported via ambulance to Portneuf Regional Medical Center. Holbrook was taken to the same hospital by air ambulance.According to a spokesperson from PMC, Holbrook is currently in good condition.
Laeger was not transported.
ISP said seat belts and child safety seats were being used at the time of the crash.
Investigation is continuing.
