Lost Rivers Medical Center gets big upgrade
Getting a CT scan at the Lost Rivers Medical Center in Arco hasn’t been easy. Patients either had to be taken outside to a trailer or sent somewhere else.
Starting next week that will change. The medical center has made some upgrades and is getting a new CT scan machine.
Director of Ancillary Susan Collins says the new machine will make the lives of patients a little easier and provide them with better care as the machine is being upgraded from a four slice to a 16 slice.
“With a four slice it’s like taking a piece of bread and cutting into four pieces, but with a sixteen slice you’re cutting that bread into 16 different pieces so it’s a lot smaller slice we’re able to see,” said Collins.
The cost for this project was about $360,000. About $280,000 of the cost was covered by grants and community support, with the medical center picking up the rest.
All the equipment will be installed by Monday and should be up and running by the beginning of December.
