Update: I-15 open following crash that killed a child

The Idaho Transportation Department says I-15 northbound just north of Ft. Hall has reopened following and accident late Tuesday afternoon.

Idaho State Police confirm that one child was killed in the accident.

Four others were injured in the accident. The driver of the pickup truck was taken via air ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in serious condition. Three other children were taken to PMC via ground ambulance.

The accident involved one pickup and a semi with a trailer. Idaho State Police say the accident happened when the semi blew a tire. The driver lost control crossing the median and into oncoming traffic on northbound I-15 hitting the pickup truck head on. Police believe the accident happened so quickly there would have been no time to react.

Idaho State Police is still investigating the accident.
