Update: Second suspect in armed robbery case arrested
Update: The Idaho Falls Police Department and the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office have arrested the man they say robbed another man at gun point earlier this year.
Idaho Falls Police arrested Chris Derrick at a home on 2430 North Hitt Road earlier today. While serving a warrant for Derrick’s arrest police found a truck that matched the description of a vehicle that had been stolen from Right Price Auto a few weeks ago.
Derrick was arraigned Friday afternoon on charges of felony robbery and felony use of a dangerous weapon in the commission of a felony. The robbery charges carries a potential $50,000 fine and five years in jail. The weapon charge could add another 15 years of jail time.
A preliminary hearing in the case has been set for February 16th.
Original story: On Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, the Idaho Falls Police Department arrested 29-year-old Antonyo Lee Beare for armed robbery.
According to the police report, at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, on the 1400 block of East 17th Street, a passenger in a truck pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his wallet. There were three other individuals in the victim’s vehicle.
Police say a truck matching the description of the one used in the robbery was found later that morning on the 1900 block of Channing Way. The driver of the truck was later identified as Beare of Terreton.
Idaho Falls Polices say surveillance video from the Perkins restaurant located on Channing Way shows Beare going through a wallet shortly after the robbery occurred. Beare reportedly took $100 from the wallet before throwing the wallet in the trash where it was later found by a recycling business.
Beare was booked into the Bonneville County Jail for one count of robbery.
Investigators are continuing their efforts to identify the second male involved in the robbery.
