Pocatello approves changes to PRT routes

Changes are coming to Pocatello Regional Transit’s bus routes.

Thursday night the Pocatello City Council approved a series of changes to PRT’s bus service.

StartingMarch 21, buses will run along five core routes instead of seven. The changes come after PRT was asked by the Council to explore options at reducing department expenses. In the process, PRT listened to the public over the course of five months and two open house meetings.

“After hearing from our ridership, these are the changes PRT and the Council felt would impact our patrons as minimally as possible while meeting our objective of reducing expenses,” said Dave Hunt, Pocatello Regional Transit Director. “We know these changes are very real for some of our riders and we certainly realize the weight of these modifications for them. However, they are necessary to ensure our long-term financial health.”
