City to hold meeting to consider changes at Tautphaus Park
Some big changes may be maybe in store for Tautphaus Park. The City of Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation are holding a meeting Wednesday evening to discuss future plans to expand the park.
There are several changes being considered at the meeting including expanding evening lighting, allowing park visitors to enjoy the park for more of each day.
The park is spacious an offers a variety of way to entertain kids, including skating. Even with all the amenities the park offers there are still some things visitors would like to see.
“obviously we have our toys, there’s places to play sports and we have skate boarding but really the only thing we’re missing is a water park,” says Brianna Anderson, a mother who visits the park frequently.
Anderson says she enjoys spending time at the park.
“If it came down to it being for tax payers to pay for it i would totally be for it 100 percent anything to make our community better,” she said.
Greg Weitzel, Director of the Department of Parks and Recreations, says there’s always room for improvements.
“We know we have parking issues and we’ve got traffic issues and utilities that need help,” Weitzel said.
Wednesday’s meeting will cover some of these topics.
“What can we do today short term but what should we be doing in the next few years to make this park a really great destination?” asked Weitzel.
The meeting will be held at the Marriot Inn and starts at 7 p.m.
