Process in selecting a new Bannock County Commissioner

The process will begin soon for selecting a new Bannock County Commissioner.
This comes after Commissioner Howard Manwaring announced his resignation last week.

The Bannock County Republican Party will open the nominations up to the central committee, they will then vote. After that, three candidates will be selected. Governor Butch Otter will then have 15 days to select a name from the three.

“I will suspect he will select those names very quickly just because there’s a lot of time left in the term. And the county still has a lot of issues to go through,” said Dakota Bates, Chairman of the Bannock County Idaho Republican Party.

The meeting for name selections will be Friday, April 22nd at the Newberry building in Old Town Pocatello at 8pm. It will be open to the public.
