Number of passengers at Pocatello Regional Airport increases by 32%
It has only been a short period of time since a third weekday Delta flight was added at the Pocatello Regional Airport and already the number of passengers is already taking off.
According to figures compiled by airport administration, the total number of passengers traveling into Pocatello and out of the airport was 5,413 for March 2016. The number represents an increase of 32 percent from 4,114 passengers in March 2015.
“We are ecstatic with these numbers,” said Pocatello Regional Airport Manager David Allen. “It’s evidence that more and more people are discovering the benefits to be had from flying to and from Pocatello.”
While the exact source of the increase is difficult to pinpoint, the airport has noticed an increase in interest coming from the northern part of the Snake River plain.
“From February to March of this year, we saw a 13 percent increase in Idaho Falls-based traffic on the airport’s website,” Allen said. “Those visits were specifically on pages devoted to comparing the cost of traveling from Pocatello versus Idaho Falls.”
The third-weekday flight serves as a Delta Connection flight to Salt Lake City International Airport and is operated by SkyWest Airlines. Currently, weekday departures are at 7 a.m., 12:25 p.m., and 6:15 p.m. Weekday arrivals are at 11:58 a.m., 5:50 p.m., and 10:45 p.m.
Passengers are treated to a host of wallet-friendly free amenities at Pocatello Regional Airport, the most popular of which has been free parking. The others include free Wi-Fi, a book sharing center courtesy of the Friends of the Marshall Public Library, shoe-shine station by Meyers Shoe Repair, water refill station from Culligan Water Conditioning of Pocatello, complimentary coffee and a children’s play area from Pocatello Regional Airport.
“Join with the thousands of people in the last month who took the time to compare the fares, analyze the true costs of driving to Salt Lake City, and see if flying with Pocatello Regional Airport is right for you,” said Allen.
