Jefferson Elementary students raise over $12,000 for new playground equipment

The students at Jefferson Elementary School in Rigby were in need of some new playground equipment so the students went to work and earned over $12,000 to buy it.

The students helped to raise the money by selling discount pizza coupons around the area. Wednesday afternoon the school held an assembly to hand out prizes to students who sold the most coupons. One lucky student won a bicycle.

The school also met its student reading goals and the top three students from the three grades the school houses got to throw a pie in their Principal’s face. Principal Jensen is very pleased with the students’ success.

“We’ve done some little fundraisers but this fundraiser just really resonated with the community with trying to get new playground equipment for those kids cause it’s so important for them to be able to have that physical activity,” said Jensen.

The new playground equipment will be installed over the summer after the school year ends.
