Next Step Idaho: Students thinking about moving onto college
The White House is shining a light on high school seniors who have made plans to go to college, and local high school students took part in a college signing day Tuesday afternoon.
It’s an initiative to get students to think about their futures and the next steps.
Next Step Idaho offers students information on when to start applying to colleges, financial aid and creating a plan. Whether it be a four-year college, community college, a certification program, or the military,
School counselor Jennie Likes said such events make a difference.
“This is the first time we’ve done it, but it’s really exciting for our students because we don’t normally have a lot of students who sign to go to college,” Likes said.
She said she’s seen an improvement already.
“This year, Lincoln High School had 14 students who plan on attending college,” Likes said.
Currently, the school is getting ready for senior graduation.
