Charity movie screening for two families who lost parents
A local producer and director’s movie is helping the families whose parents were killed in a plane crash back in March.
“When I heard about this terrible tragedy, the first thing I thought was what can I do to help?” said Rocco DeVilliers.
He’s talking about the deadly plane crash March 13 that killed the parents of the Andersons and the Summers children. All four parents were killed when their plane crashed shortly after takeoff in Alpine, Wyoming. Seven children were left without parents.
He wants to use his movie, called “The Fly Boys,” as a special screening Thursday night to help out both families. He’s teaming up with the Paramount Theater in Idaho Falls. All proceeds will go to the Anderson and Summers children.
Eyewitness News anchor Todd Kunz asked DeVilliers more about why he is getting involved.
“You know, I love Idaho, you know. I grew up in Idaho. I don’t live here now, but I’m reminded every time I come back to Idaho of how great the community is. And to see the community pull together for something like this, has been phenomenal, you know, the sponsors we’ve had, the support we’ve had for this screening. So you know, I would just encourage everybody to come out, have a fun time at the movies, but also support a really great cause,” said DeVilliers.
The movie is Thursday night, May 5 at 7 p.m., at the Paramount Theater on Channing Way in Idaho Falls. It’s rated PG-13. Tickets are $10. If one theater fills up, they will also show it on a second screen.
“The Fly Boys” was filmed in southern Utah. DeVilliers is from Twin Falls and spent summers in Blackfoot with his grandparents. The filmmaker will hold a Q & A following the screening.
