Man arrested after short police pursuit on I-15
A Terreton man was arrested early Friday morning after leading officers on a short pursuit in the Idaho Falls area.
At around 12:30 am an Idaho Falls Police officer stopped Jason Reid Lundholm, 28, for speeding near J Street and Lake Avenue in Idaho Falls. As the officer was approaching Lundholm’s vehicle, Lundholm drove away at a high rate of speed. A short time later Lundholm entered I-15 northbound from the Broadway entrance.
An Idaho State Police trooper located Lundholm on northbound I-15. The trooper could see Lundholm was failing to maintain his lane of travel and in a pattern consistent with an intoxicated driver. When the trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over Lundholm failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. Lundholm then illegally used the emergency cross-over in the median of I-15 and started traveling southbound.
A Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputy deployed a spike strip near milepost 119 in an attempt to flatten Lundholm’s tires and stop him. Lundholm crossed the median before reaching the spike strip and the trooper made contact with Lundholm’s vehicle in an attempt to end the pursuit. Lundholm was able to begin traveling northbound until another trooper was able to successfully deploy a spike strip near milepost 127 and flatten three of the tires. Lundholm still failed to stop and continued until a trooper was able to stop the vehicle by utilizing the Pursuit Intervention Technique, or PIT maneuver. Lundholm’s vehicle came to rest in the median of I-15 and Lundholm was taken into custody.
Lundholm was in possession of a hypodermic needle, a baggie containing suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a black tar substance consistent with Heroin, and Morphine Sulphate pills, a Schedule II controlled substance. Lundholm was taken to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for evaluation and was then transported to the Bonneville County Jail.
Lundholm was charged with the following, felony possession of a controlled substance, felony eluding, misdemeanor driving under the influence, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
