Idaho Falls woman living with Lyme Disease

You’ve probably heard of Lyme Disease and it’s possible you didn’t think you could get in Idaho. One woman in Idaho Falls is hoping her story of living with the disease will help people understand the signs and the risks of it.

“I had chronic headaches, migraines every single day,”said Felicia Wright, who found out after years of questions she had Lyme Disease in 2012.
“I had muscle weakness to the point that I would pick up my child and feel like I was going to fall down”

She says the many doctors she went to were certain she had MS or a brain tumor, which wasn’t the case at all. Back in 2005, Wright was living in Boise when she developed a big ring rash, many people told her it was a ring worm when it really ended up being a sign of Lyme Disease.

She was placed on antibiotics and had to walk around for a month with an IV attached to her. “When they finally told me I had a Lyme Disease I was happy which seems weird”

Wright says she hopes more doctors in the area will become more familiar with it as in her experience, it’s been a challenge to find answers and get treatment. Research is constantly being done around the world on the disease.

Stevens Henager College in Idaho Falls is hosting a Lyme Disease awareness event on Wednesday May 18th from 10a.m. to 1p.m.
