Woman saved by Idaho Falls stranger
Ten years ago, Aubrey Drumm almost lost her life, but miraculously she recovered. Doctors said that despite a portion of her skull being removed she shouldn’t have any problems with epilepsy.
“My doctors back home had said that you’re pretty much in the clear,” said Drumm. “You’re never going to have one if you don’t have it in the first five years, but, you know, they were wrong.”
She and her boyfriend were headed to Virginia to see the Dave Matthews Band. A proposal was made, and the happy couple was headed home.
“We were trying to make it home by Wednesday , but we sure didn’t do that,” said Chris De Brocky.
While driving down Highway 20, things changed.
“I was just driving home trying to get to California,” said De Brocky. “Next thing I know, coming down the little highway here and we run into construction she starts lurching forward and screaming and yelling. I think she’s having a bad dream so I’m trying to calm her down. Next thing I know, she’s seizing. She’s having a seizure.”
“I was sleeping in the car and then when I woke up there was all these people around and paramedics,” said Drumm. “I was so scared.”
“I pulled over into the gas station,” said De Brocky. “Turned the car off and jumped to the other side of the car trying to help her not knowing what to do.”
Then a stranger came to the rescue.
“A random person, a good person comes and they see me yelling for help. Help! Help! Help! Next thing I know they are calling the ambulance for me and she’s starting to calm down,” said De Brocky.”He helped me to know what to do. He’s a ski instructor and knows a little bit of medical knowledge. He said keep her airway open make sure she’s good, move her head a little bit. It was terrifying.”
