Charges against FBI worker dismissed
A charge was dismissed against an FBI worker accused of tipping off her husband about an investigation.
Jennifer Barnett, head of building security at the FBI office in Pocatello, was arrested May 16.
According to Bannock County court records, police were investigating Barnett’s husband, David Phillips, on child pornography. Police had planned to search Phillips’ electronic devices for evidence. Barnett informed her husband about the investigation before it could be completed.
Barnett appeared for a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
She was charged with one count of principle to destroy or conceal evidence.
Sixth District Magistrate Judge Rick Carnaroli dismissed the charge. His reason for dismissal was that the state didn’t meet its burden of proof in the case.
The charge was dismissed without prejudice, meaning the state could refile charges against Barnett at a later date.
