Smithsonain ‘Water/Ways’ exhibit opens at Idaho Falls library
An exhibit from the Smithsonian Museum is now on display at the Idaho Falls Public Library.
Water/Ways covers everything from water’s impact on American culture to how it’s an environmental and biological necessity.
“It’s a very appropriate topic for eastern Idaho and actually all of Idaho as we have a water resource board and mitigation plans and so on going on for groundwater and surface water, ” said Idaho Falls City Council Member Ed Marohn. “This is important to educate the youth the adults in the area about the water resource value.”
One way the library is trying to get kids involved is through an art and photo contest for elementary, middle and high school students.
“We love to encourage creativity,” said Liza Evans, the library’s Adult & Teen Programming Specialist. “We want the kids to look at the world around them and see how much water is part of our world. It’s so important, and we want them to pay attention to it and to think about it.”
