One woman dies in Highway 91 accident near Preston

One Utah woman died in an accident along highway 91, outside of Preston Friday.

The Idaho State Police say “On Friday, July 1 , 2016, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle fatality crash northbound on US91 at milepost 12.1, near Preston. James Cook, 53, of Providence, UT was driving northbound on US91 in a 2001 Ford F250 pickup. Cook was towing a fifth wheel camper trailer and a utility trailer. Cook lost control of the vehicle and the trailers. The pickup then went over the guardrail and rolled down a steep embankment.

Passenger Julie Cook, 24, of Providence, UT died at the scene of the crash. James and his other passengers, Debra Cook, 51, and Blaine Cook, 21, both of Providence UT were transported by ground ambulance to Franklin County Medical Center in Preston.

All occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts. The road was completely blocked for approximately 5.5 hours.
The crash is under investigation at this time.”
