“Utter Shock” Roller Derby teammate reacts to death of “Pixie”

When Julie Borshell met Jennifer Nalley, more affectionately known as Pixie Tourette she was star struck.

“Roller Derby was revived in Austin Texas in the early 2000’s and she was a part of that,” said Borshell “You played for the Texas Rollergirls? No way!” she recalls telling her when they met last fall.

On Tuesday, devastating news came to the Jackson Hole Juggernauts as they learned about the murder of their friend and teammate.

In court documents released Thursday, Idaho State Police investigators said 39-year-old Jennifer Nalley was shot multiple times. Her body was discovered at around 11:19 a.m. Tuesday by her uncle. An autopsy conducted by the Ada County Coroner in Boise on Wednesday confirmed Nalley was pregnant at the time of her death

“Jennifer was she was spunky and very very quirky and lovable she was brilliant,”said Borshell who says Pixie knew a lot about a lot of things, especially physics and math. “I can remember we went to Casper last month and she brought physics trivia flash cards and it was hilarious,” said Borshell.

Borshell said a couple of weeks before the murder she had heard about Ohlson’s change of behavior, but didn’t realize how bad it was. “he became obsessed with hating her and it was like a total change in personality and I don’t know if he had a history with mental illness but he was sending her some pretty hateful texts,” said Borshell.

When Borshell heard the news she said it was “utter shock”. Nalley had a twin cousins from Sweden in town for the summer and Borshell says she was looking forward to the twins playing with her own children. She hopes to set up a time for them to get together before they leave.

This Saturday the team will hold a memorial for their beloved teammate. Ohlson will appear in court July 20th for a preliminary hearing.
