Original Story: The lightning caused Cliff Creek fire near Bondurant, Wyoming is now estimated at 14,629 acres and is 10 percent contained. 663 firefighters are assigned to the blaze.

Incident Commander Tony DeMasters said firefighters plan to continue a burnout, setting fire inside a control line, to consume fuel between the edge of the fire and the control line.

The controlled burn will burn strips of vegetation and create a barrier to the oncoming fire by using up all available fuel between the burnout and the fire.

The burnout operation is likely to take several days and will likely create more visible smoke.

Highway 189/191 is now open. However, passing is not allowed with the fire area and no stopping along the road or parking in pullout areas is allowed within the fire area.

DeMasters still hopes firefighters can contain the fire by July 21st.
