ISU vice president of finance takes paid leave

Idaho State University is making some staff changes for the fall. University president Arthur Vailas announced Monday that the current vice president for finance, James Fletcher, would be taking a paid personal leave of absence.

Fletcher requested a leave of absence due to some personal matters, which the university cannot discuss. His leave is effective immediately.

It’s unknown when, or if, Fletcher will return. The university said it’s something Fletcher and Vailas will be discussing at a later time.

The university said it appreciates all Fletcher has contributed in his nine years as vice president. They said his leave of absence will leave some big shoes to fill, but there’s a good team in place.

“His leadership really should be recognized for everything he’s been able to do, but I know with the team that he’s formed here, including the hiring of Mr. Hickenlooper, that we’ll be in good hands in the interim until such time that the long-term CFO situation is resolved,” said Brian Sagendorf, human resources director at ISU.

Brian Hickenlooper has been named interim chief financial officer. He was previously the assistant vice president of finance. He will take over for Fletcher.

Fletcher could not be reached for comment.
