D93 wants local subcontractors to help build new high school
The building of the new high school in Bonneville Joint School District 93 is underway as crews begin to prepare the build site. However, the general contractor, Headwaters Construction, is still looking for subcontractors for certain help.
District 93 held the new high school’s ground breaking two weeks ago. And now, the next stage is hiring local subcontractors.
“We feel fortunate to be a local contractor — a local general contractor — and be working on this school. And so, we’d love to get it out there and make sure that all of the local subcontractors know that it’s coming and are well aware of it,” said Headwaters Construction project director Logan Bingham.
Hired by Distrcit 93, Headwaters Construction hires subcontractors to do specific jobs, such as painting and concrete work.
“Like right now, we have the earth works contractor out here working, and they do all of the mass earth work and grating — they dig the footings and the foundation. We also already have a concrete subcontractor that we’ve hired. They’ll come in and do the concrete work,” said Bingham.
Headwaters Construction will be putting on an open house next week to let local contractors know what they need in order to get involved.
“We’re holding it strategically next week, so that there’s enough time they can see what the requirements are. We can sit down with them, and that’s what we’d love to do. Take some time next week to sit down with them and go through those specific requirements, and then they still have enough time to get their information and paperwork in place,” said Bingham.
Those interested can come to the Subcontractors Fair to learn about the project, to find out when bid documents are available, and to review the licensing procedures needed for a Public Works license.
The subcontractors open house is set for August 16 at the Hilton Garden Inn. The project team presentation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and the open house is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
