Idaho Tourism focuses in on German international travelers
Haerzliches willkommen! That means welcome in German. And it’s a message Idaho tourism officials want to spread. They’re producing a promotional video in German for a good reason.
“German is the one language we chose to do the international promotion video for, because there are more German people who don’t speak english,” said Nancy Richardson, Senior International Tourism Specialist, Boise.
More tourists means more business for everything from hotels to restaurants. Tourism marketing company, Brand USA and Idaho Tourism hope the video of the Gate City and nearby towns will help attract German speaking visitors.
After a ten year decline of international visitors, congress established Brand USA in 2010 to help jobs and revenue nationwide.
“You know, Florida would be doing their thing, California, Vegas. There’s just a lot of promotion going on around the country, but there wasn’t a united effort,” said Dee Zulauf, Public Relations of Brand USA, Florida.
Idaho Tourism and the Southwest Idaho Travel Association will be heading down to the Shoshone-Bannock Museum Wednesday. This will be for the cultural history portion of their international promotion video.
