Ballet Idaho Dancers Teach in Idaho Falls
Principal dancers with Ballet Idaho traveled to Idaho Falls this week to teach students at both the Idaho Ballet Theatre and Idaho School of Ballet. This is the first time the Boise company has held a workshop like this in eastern Idaho.
The workshop is all in an effort to bring more talent based out of Idaho to the eastern part of the state. Erin Nazario a board member with the Idaho Falls Youth Art Council decided to start small by adding a workshop exposing dancers to talent from Idaho.”Some of the talent that is here in Idaho it kind of makes me angry when some of the other organizations go out of Idaho to bring in amazing things,” said Nazario.
Students are enjoying the workshop as it gives them a chance to learn from professionals. For dancer Nate Nelson, he’s thankful for more than the professional caliber. “I’m not used to having a guy teaching me so it’s kind of nice to have a guy who knows ballet,” said Nelson, the only boy in the advanced class on Wednesday.
The workshop began Monday and goes through Friday, dancers paid for the workshop taught by principal dancers Andrew Taft and Elizabeth Keller. Students alternate their day between Idaho Ballet Theatre on McNeil Dr. and Idaho School of Ballet on 16th St.
Ballet Idaho is starting their performance season Oct. 1st. If you’re interested in learning more about Ballet Idaho and their upcoming season, visit their website here.
