Areas closed as 4 fires burn in Caribou-Targhee National Forest
The U.S. Forest Service has issued closure notices for several areas with the Caribou-Targhee National Forest as four fires continue to burn within forest boundaries.
An emergency closure was issued August 19th for the Area of the Carrot Fire. The closure includes Forest Service Trails 010, 015 and 002 at the junction of 002 and 009.
The Black Fire is burning on the ridge between Bear Gulch and Black Canyon on the Palisades Ranger District. Forest Service Trails 155, 071, 073, 074 and 287 (Ranger Trail southeast of Burns Creek) are closed. The South Fork Road is closed at Warm Springs. The area within these closed trails is also closed (see attached map).
The Peterson Hollow Fire closure is in an area north of the Utah/Idaho State line north of the Beaver Mountain Ski Area in Utah. This closure is in anticipation of the Peterson Hollow Fire in northern Utah moving north into Idaho. Forest Service trail 353 is closed and trail 316 is closed from the junction of the trail. Forest Service road 411 to junction of the trail and Road 466 is closed as well as road 466 and road 411 between the Utah/Idaho State line and Beaver Creek Campground (see attached map).
The Tie Canyon Fire Emergency Road and Trail Closure is in the upper Pine Creek area north of Swan Valley and south west of Victor. FS trails 200, 207, 300 and 243 are closed. FS road 252 (Tie Canyon) and 253 (Upper Rainey Creek) are closed (see attached map).
